1. Write down your must-haves
Choose the requirements that would rule out an app for your business. These might include your phone, offline access to horse history, billing multiple owners at a barn, a second staff member, or a particular export format. Keep preferences separate from essentials.

2. Set up one fictional barn
Add a sample client, three sample horses, and a future visit. Enter one trim at $55 for each of two horses and one reset at $150 for the third. These amounts are test data, not a pricing recommendation.
- Can you tell the paying client, barn address, and each horse apart?
- Move one horse to a later date. Are the other horses still on the original visit?
- Change a contact detail. Check where the update appears.

3. Record the work and inspect the invoice
In the test scenario, complete all three services and create a draft invoice. With no tax or other charges in this example, the total is $260: $55 + $55 + $150. Record a $100 partial payment without initiating a real transaction. The remaining balance should be $160.
- Are the horses and services named clearly?
- Can you distinguish the original invoice total, payment received, and remaining balance?
- Can you retrieve the work under the right horse later?
- Try your own tax, discount, and payment terms separately, if applicable.

4. Check behavior without reception
With only test data and no pending payment, disconnect the device from internet access. Try opening the horse history, viewing a photo, editing a note, and preparing an invoice. Reconnect and check what was saved and what still needs sending.
- Which actions worked? Which were clearly unavailable?
- Did the app distinguish a prepared invoice from a delivered invoice?
- If multiple users are involved, what happens to conflicting edits?

5. Recover and export the records
Locate the export and backup options. Open a sample export outside the app and confirm that the fields you need are present. Ask how you would restore to a replacement phone before relying on that procedure. Do not delete your existing records to test recovery.

- Are photos and attachments included, or do they require a separate process?
- Does your accountant accept the available format?
- Where are records stored, and what happens if you stop subscribing?

6. Check the cost and make a decision
Record the actual offer shown to you: currency, renewal price, billing period, included users, any transaction or messaging charges, and cancellation method. Read the vendor’s terms and privacy policy. Ask support about unanswered essentials before importing the full business.
